Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 in which he loved participating in numerous card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming really aggressive in these card games while playing his dad. The definite improvement in his skills began when he began playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the best players would regularly challenge one another. He had access into a few of the best minds in chess.
