Online poker has become world acclaimed as of late, with televised championships and celebrity poker game events. Its universal appeal, though, arcs back quite a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years several variants on the original poker game have been developed, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely affiliated with 21 than old guard poker, in that the gamblers bet against the casino rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little concealment or other kinds of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up just before the dealer declares "No further bets." At that instance, both you and the house and of course all of the different gamblers are given 5 cards. Once you have looked at your hand and the casino’s 1st card, you must in turn make a call bet or bow out. The call bet’s value is akin to your beginning bet, which means that the risks will have doubled. Surrendering means that your wager goes instantaneously to the casino. After the wager comes the face off. If the casino does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, with a sum in accordance with the original bet. If the dealer does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand is greater than the dealer’s hand. The bank pony’s up money equal to your wager and fixed odds on your call wager. These odds are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- two to one for 2 pairs
- three to one for three of a kind
- 4-1 for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- 20-1 for a four of a kind
- 50-1 for a straight flush
- 100-1 for a royal flush
