Stu is considered by most to the finest No Limit Holdem Poker gambler ever.
The three time World Poker Champion was born in New York in 1953 and began betting poker prior to reaching his teens.
The young bettor began betting gin and at the age of 10 had won his primary gin rummy tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the age of fourteen the small poker maestro had turned pro and stopped going to school.
In ‘54 Stu entered the history books by winning ten thousand dollars in a gin rummy tournament without dropping a single hand, a record which still remains in New York these days.
The quick talking wiz kid has been likened, in poker terms, to sporting superstars such as Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Stu Ungar had a genuine skill for playing poker except regardless of his successes in Texas holdem poker, he favored playing gin.
Stu once said that there might a number of day be a much better No Limit Holdem gambler than him but he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a greater gin gambler.
In ‘80 Stu was put on the global map as one of the best Hold em Poker gamblers in the planet when he was crowned World Poker Champ for the very first time. Amazingly it was the first time he had entered the tournament.
The subsequent year he dismissed any thoughts that it had been a fluke, by successfully defending his title. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by succeeding his 3rd World poker championship.
But this poker legend also struggled with drug abuse and a year following succeeding his third title Stu past away in his hotel room. According to doctors, he had died from a cardiac event which was triggered by his lifestyle.
Stu had began with absolutely nothing except his ability and talent for the casino game which made this poker great a millionaire many times over.
