Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
